Depreciation Schedule
Build a year-by-year depreciation schedule from cost, salvage, and useful life.
Illustrative sample (250k cost · 25k salvage · 5 years SL). Not financial advice.
Asset inputs
Cost, salvage, useful life, and method. Declining-balance uses the DB rate you set (e.g. 200% = double-declining). Persist locally · Jump to results
Year schedule
Depreciation expense, accumulated depreciation, and closing book value by year.
Equations
- SL annual = (Cost − Salvage) ÷ Life
- DB annual = Opening BV × (DB% ÷ 100 ÷ Life), floored at salvage
| Year | Opening BV | Depreciation | Accum. dep. | Closing BV |
|---|
How this is calculated
- Straight-line spreads (cost − salvage) evenly over useful life
- Declining-balance applies DB% ÷ life to opening book value each year, never below salvage
- Final year pulls book value to salvage when needed
Illustrative — not financial advice. Pair with CapEx plans and fixed-asset registers.
