Gain and return

Absolute gain, ROI %, and break-even value (= initial).

Equations

  • AbsoluteGain = Final − Initial
  • ROI = (Final − Initial) ÷ Initial · not annualised
  • BreakEvenValue = Initial

How this is calculated
  • ROI (return on investment) = (Final − Initial) ÷ Initial — a simple period return, not a CAGR
  • Absolute gain = Final − Initial
  • Break-even value = the initial outlay (gain is zero when Final equals Initial)

Illustrative — not financial advice. For multi-year annualised growth use CAGR.
